REACH, RoHS, POP’s, TSCA, PFAS, California Proposition 65, Halogen Conformity and EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

BC-Tech does not use any substances of very high concern (SVHC). According to Article 33(1) of the REACH Regulation, this confirmation applies to all products sold or otherwise placed on the market by BC-Tech (current REACH candidate list).

REACH-Regulation

The REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC addresses the safe use of chemicals placed on the market and their potential impacts on the environment and consumers. As a company, BC-TECH implements REACH completely and in all its facets.

We welcome this shift in the burden of proof approach to the safe handling of products and acknowledge our responsibility regarding the safety of the chemicals in question and the safe use of the products we place on the market. We are committed not only to complying with all regulatory requirements under the legislation, but go a step further. We carefully monitor changes in legislation that could affect us and our products in the future and actively communicate with our suppliers about them. Furthermore, we have taken internal measures to proactively and efficiently implement relevant product requirements.

Candidate list of Substances of very high Concern (SVHC)

Substances of very high concern show at least one of the following properties:

  • carcinogenicity
  • germ cell mutagenicity
  • reproductive toxicity
  • PBT (persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic)
  • vPvB (very persistent and very bioaccumulative)
  • comparable properties if concern (for example endocrine disrupting properties)

By carefully selecting our suppliers, we ensure that none of our products contain substances of very high concern (SVHC). It is our commitment to offer our customers only products that meet the highest quality standards.

RoHS-Regulation

The substances listed in RoHS are highly hazardous to the environment and, under RoHS legislation, should no longer be used in products. We fully support this approach. All products supplied by BC-TECH meet all requirements of the RoHS Directive and all subsequent directives (Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2011).

The abbreviation RoHS stands for “Restriction of Hazardous Substances,” or more specifically, for “Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment.” The corresponding EU Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS 1) “Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment” was revised in 2011 (2011/65/EU, RoHS 2) and supplemented in 2015 with EU Directive 2015/863. Since 2006, this directive has controlled the sale of electrical equipment throughout the EU that contains lead, cadmium, chromium VI, mercury, certain brominated flame retardants, or phthalates in concentrations above defined thresholds. Electronics manufacturers are required to demonstrate the conformity of their products with the RoHS Directive.

Declaration of conformity: Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 (EU POPs)

BC-TECH confirms that none of our products contain any of the listed substances (in concentrations above the permissible limits) according to Annex I or Annex II of the EU POPs (Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on persistent organic pollutants – recast).

Declaration of Conformity to TSCA

On January 6, 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published final rules under Section 6(h) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to restrict the import and use of five persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT) chemicals.

BC-TECH confirms that none of our products contain any of the substances listed below:

Declaration of Conformity to PFAS

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of thousands of synthetic chemicals that are used in a wide range of applications due to their interesting properties.
They all contain carbon-fluorine bonds, which are among the strongest chemical bonds in organic chemistry. This means that they are difficult to break down, both during use and in the environment, and therefore pose a major threat to humans and nature.

BC-TECH confirms that none of our products supplied to customers contain per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS).

Background on California Proposition 65

Doing business in California (USA) requires compliance with California Proposition 65, short for the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. The law lists more than 1’000 chemicals “known to the state to cause cancer or to cause birth defects and other reproductive toxicity”.

BC-TECH confirms that none of our products supplied to customers contain substances from the current “List of restricted substances for California Proposition 65”.

HALOGEN FREE Declaration

We also declare that all BC-TECH products comply with the Halogen Free requirements below:

  • The concentration of chlorine (Cl) is <900ppm in any homogeneous material
  • The concentration of bromine (Br) is <900ppm in any homogeneous material
  • The total concentration of all halogens is <1’500ppm in any homogeneous material

EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is an EU law aimed at combating global deforestation. It prohibits the placing on the EU market of certain raw materials and products (such as wood, cocoa, coffee, soy, palm oil, bark, and rubber) that were produced on deforested land or caused forest damage after December 31, 2020.

BC-TECH declares that none of the aforementioned raw materials are used in the products supplied to our customers.

BC-TECH is committed to provide safe and high quality products to our customers. This information is provided to the best of our knowledge and belief and is based on our supplier information. The assurance of conformity is part of our supplier qualification.
